  • Mary E. Brulja, DO

OB/GYN with Rockhill Women's Care, with offices in Kansas and Missouri. “I’ve been exposed to medicine my entire life. My dad was a family practice physician so I grew up surrounded by it. I used to sit in his office and read his books as a kid. I was a natural in science so I was never geared to go into anything other than medicine. OB/GYN was the only path that had a little bit of everything. We have plenty of time in the office, plenty of time in the OR, time in labor delivery, and I really enjoy working all those parts into the same job. It gets my adrenalin going. Being on call is a different type of energy I really don’t get with anything else.”

  • Susan Ezell, DO

OB/GYN with Rockhill Women's Care, with offices in Missouri and Kansas. “I grew up liking science. I initially went into med school wanting to be a pediatric oncologist. Then I attended the women’s health module and immediately fell in love with it. OB’s have the chance to be there for some of the best and some of the worst times in a woman’s life whether it’s delivering their baby which is obviously a wonderful experience to complications in pregnancy or having a hysterectomy. I consider it a privilege to be with a person throughout those different experiences in their life, whether they’re good or bad. It’s an honor to be earn that trust from my patient.”

  • Johanna Finkle, MD, FACOG

OB/GYN with Rockhill Women's Care, offices in Missouri and Kansas. "I strive to provide consistent, high quality, safe OB/GYN care. I focus my care around the patient in a culturally and linguistically sensitive manner. I am fluent in Spanish and proficient in French. I implement leading best practices. I achieve this by remaining current with medical literature and participating in OB/GYN evidence-based practice teams. My patients actively participate in decision-making, and I seek feedback to ensure patient expectations are met. My areas of interest include obstetrical care, family planning, minimally invasive surgery, and well-woman visits. I enjoy helping women stay fit and healthy through all stages of life by incorporating nutritional recommendations and exercise goals. In my own life, I value exercise and stay active with my three children ages 2, 5 and 8. My husband and I love raising our family in Kansas City and strive to balance work and family."

  • Gene VandenBoom, MD, FACOG

OB/GYN with Rockhill Women's Care, with offices in Kansas and Missouri. "My background has shaped my practice. I was a working-class student throughout high school, college, and medical school. I worked in the cafeteria, kitchen, and housekeeping at my high school, worked several years in the kitchen at Baptist Memorial Hospital, and many years as a Central Supply orderly at the old Menorah Medical Center. This has given me an appreciation and respect for hospital employees at all level of service. I carry that notion of respect throughout everything I do, including the care of my patients. I have two primary goals. In order of importance, the first is to do everything possible to ensure the safety of mom and baby. Secondly, I strive for each and every pregnancy to be a normal, vaginal delivery. I always prioritize my patients’ welfare. I initially recommend medical management for gynecological problems since this poses less risk and is more economical. I recommend surgery only after medically-appropriate attempts at management are exhausted."
